Learn about candle safety

  • Never move or leave candles unattended while burning.
  • Some of our candles are decorated with a raffia bow - remove this prior to use.
  • Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch to prevent smoking mushrooming. Re-trim the wick before every use.
  • We recommend burning your candle for at least one hour at a time to achieve a full melt pool and even burning.
  • Burn in a draft free area clear of combustible material such as curtains, books, baskets, etc.
  • Candles should be spaced apart while lit to prevent uneven burning.
  • Burn out of reach of children and pets.
  • Burn tealights in a well ventilated area in an appropriate holder which allows air to circulate well.
  • Keep the burn pool clean; never throw matches into the candle.

  • Keep candles out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
  • Always place candles on or in a non-combustible, heat-resistant base set on a flat surface.
  • Extremes of heat and cold should be avoided.
  • Ensure candles are burned in an upright position.
  • Candles may be cleaned by washing them gently in cool water. Allow to air dry before use.
  • Recommended maximum burn time is 3-4 hours
  • Always snuff out your flame, never blow it.
  • Do not burn a candle all the way to the end; Leave no less than a ¼ inch of wax in the bottom.
  • To get a clean and even burn, try to burn your candle to the point that it has a full melt pool (the entire surface is liquified) each time. A good rule is to burn 30 minutes for each inch of diameter i.e 60-75 mins for our small jar and 90-115 mins for our large.
